Meet our team of coaches

Senga Riches

Devon

Senga Riches is the founder and one of the directors of All-Steps Formation Riding, and the beating heart behind everything the group does. She fell head over heels for formation riding while riding with a local team and, when that chapter naturally closed, she simply opened a new one of her own. All-Steps Formation was born from that moment, giving Senga the freedom to follow a beautifully unconventional equestrian path that blends precision, harmony and her long-standing love of Iberian horses.

Senga’s journey with horses has never been ordinary. At just 16, she was introduced to the classical way of riding, where lightness, suppleness and thoughtful training take centre stage. That early influence shaped everything that followed. Over the years, she has worked with horses in a wide range of roles, from running a polo yard, to head girl at a German stud, to grooming for international showjumpers. No matter where she’s been, one role always calls her back: trainer.

Teaching is where Senga truly shines. She has an extraordinary ability to meet both horse and rider exactly where they are, then guide them forward with clarity, encouragement and infectious enthusiasm. She lives for the “eureka” moments, those flashes of understanding when things suddenly click, and she takes genuine joy in helping combinations grow in confidence and skill.

Senga teaches formation riding across the South West and the North of England, and her sessions are as uplifting as they are educational. Her passion is contagious, her energy unmistakable, and her belief in her riders unwavering. It’s why people don’t just come to one class, they come back again and again, leaving each session smiling, inspired, and already looking forward to the next ride.

Alison Calvert Lancashire

Alison Calvert is a UKCC British Dressage and BHS Coach whose depth of knowledge is matched by her ability to make training feel positive, purposeful and genuinely enjoyable. She is also a Youth Coach Assessor and Para Coach, bringing an inclusive, thoughtful approach to everything she teaches.

Alison’s coaching is shaped by the best of both worlds. She weaves together modern training methods with classical principles, creating sessions that are clear, adaptable and refreshingly down to earth. Her lessons are structured yet encouraging, always designed to build confidence in both horse and rider while keeping learning engaging and fun.

Based at her home yard in Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, Alison runs a small, personal set-up where she keeps her four horses and continues to refine her own riding. She competes in British Dressage at National level, ensuring her coaching is firmly grounded in current competition standards and real-world experience.

Earlier in her career, Alison competed in formation riding for British Riding Clubs, an experience that still influences her coaching today. It gave her a strong appreciation for accuracy, teamwork and harmony between horse and rider, qualities that are woven quietly but confidently into her teaching.

Alison is known for her calm, supportive presence and her ability to bring out the best in every combination. Riders leave her sessions feeling motivated, understood and equipped with tools they can actually use, which is why so many choose to train with her long-term.

Cassy Gadsby

Cornwall

Cassy Gadsby’s equestrian journey began at just four years old at Turville Valley Stud Classical Riding Centre, where she was immersed in classical training from the very start. Progressing from the riding school ponies to Lusitano stallions by the age of eleven, Cassy grew up surrounded by precision, artistry and respect for the horse.

She was deeply inspired by watching the adult riders perform pas de deux, quadrilles and large-scale drill rides on the stallions, while the younger riders, including Cassy, took part in their own musical drill rides on ponies. Those early experiences planted a lasting love for synchronisation, teamwork and the sheer spectacle of horses moving together in harmony.

Joining All-Steps Formation Riders as a coach allows Cassy to bring together her twin passions for coaching and teamwork within an exciting and rapidly growing sport. She thrives on helping riders build confidence, accuracy and connection, not only with their horses, but with each other.

A lifelong admirer of the Iberian horse, Cassy is particularly excited by All-Steps’ connection with the Portuguese School of Equestrian Art. She is passionate about playing a role in developing formation riding further across Cornwall and Devon, sharing the discipline, artistry and joy that first captured her imagination as a child.
